Hamilton Island Spices Up MICE Appeal
|
| Hamilton Island (www.hamiltonisland.com.au) on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef has stepped up its conference facilities, offering a tropical flavour for businesses seeking world-class facilities in an out of this world class location. |
|
Most recently in the spotlight for the ‘Best Job in the World’ campaign, Hamilton Island offers the perfect inspiration for team motivation. Situated off the Queensland coast of Australia, within the Whitsunday Islands and at the edge of the Great Barrier Reef, Hamilton Island affords a spectacular setting within easy access of the main Australian hubs whilst also boasting the most comprehensive convention facilities in the region, able to cater for 10 to 1,000 delegates.
And, with over AUD$300 million (£180 million) invested in Hamilton Island by its owners (the Oatley family) including a new golf course, spa, yacht club, and not forgetting qualia, the latest facilities offer more choices for international delegates than ever before.

Delegates’ Comments:
“We had a thoroughly enjoyable day at Hamilton Island Golf Course. The views from every hole were absolutely breathtaking! The team at the course were a great help with planning the day and looked after our last minute requests without missing a beat.” Amanda Janes, Callaway Golf South Pacific
“The delegates loved the experience of going across by boat to the island for their day of golf. The sponsors were also thrilled with the branding opportunities around the island including flags along the jetty and the drive up to the Clubhouse. Cherie Byrnes, the Golf Pro, was fantastic to work with and we received a lot of positive comments from the golfers about the standard of the course.” Shayne Mead, event manager, Eventscorp
“The Hamilton Island Yacht Club is an asset to the already impressive skyline of Hamilton Island. The different venue options within the structure allow you to create a special event for a group no matter what size.” Craig Muller, Madant Productions
“Each space within the Yacht Club has its own appeal. Although there are so many different areas for functions and meetings they all are private and separate from each other. It truly is a very clever and well designed building.” Jude Earles, Corporate Venues.
The Hamilton Island Yacht Club, which opened in November 2009, was designed by renowned Australian architect Walter Barda alongside famed yachtsman, Iain Murray. The venue, housed under an iconic starfish-shaped copper roof, offers a new centre for lifestyle as well as boating, with first-class dining, wellness and pool facilities. The opening of the Yacht Club has also added five premium conference spaces and a variety of private function areas to the island, from the intimate Yacht Club Black Coral Boardroom (holding 16) to the Ketch and Cutter rooms with a combined capacity of 300. The stunning views and waterside setting coupled with the premier facilities make for a first class conference venue.
The Hamilton Island Golf Club offers a 6,083 meter, par 71 course featuring unparalleled panoramic views of the Whitsunday islands from all 18 holes. Designed by Peter Thomson AO CBE and five-time British Open winner, the course opened in September 2009 and is Australia’s only 18-hole championship golf course situated on its own island, neighbouring Dent Island, a five minute boat ride from Hamilton Island.
A variety of golf (and spa) packages are available to fit with conference delegates from an optional activity to exclusive golf days.
Spa wumurdaylin is the Island’s first full service day spa and complements the world-class accommodation and facilities already available . Designed by award winning Sydney-based interior design company, Hare + Klein, the calming and luxurious interiors have been carefully chosen to embrace the tropical climate. Spa wumurdaylin can be booked for exclusive use for up to 70 delegates per day (for one hour treatments).
qualia is an exclusive AUD$75 million world class luxury resort located on the secluded northern most tip of Hamilton Island, providing the definitive Australian experience with outstanding facilities and exceptional service. qualia continues to be a firm favourite with the high-end incentives market with the more flexible group rate options including a “Gourmet” (lunch excluded) rate as well as the original all-inclusive.
