iPR Appointed to Handle the PR for The Ghan & the Indian Pacific

February 2012: Following a successful six month campaign for Great Southern Rail Australia (www.greatsouthernrail.com.au) promoting their newest train route, The Southern Spirit, iPR (www.ipr-online.co.uk) has now been appointed to look after the PR for The Ghan and the Indian Pacific rail journeys.

These two iconic train journeys are the world’s only two transcontinental services that operate both north to south and east to west - The Ghan runs between Darwin and Adelaide, and the Indian Pacific operates between Perth and Sydney. Together with The Southern Spirit and The Overland services these four journeys complete Great Southern Rail’s portfolio of ‘Great Australian Train Journeys’.

iPR is the first UK PR agency to be appointed by Great Southern Rail (GSR) as they recognise the growing popularity in luxury rail travel from this market. The Ghan in particular is considered one of the ‘must do’ ways of experiencing Australia and, alongside the Indian Pacific, offers the opportunity of covering great distances between popular Australian cities in comfort and style.

Activity is to include a mixture of media relations, media trips, marketing campaigns, competitions and promotions. Media liaison will kick off in earnest with an evening event on Tuesday 13th March in London’s Soho, co-hosted by Great Southern Rail Australia and VIA Rail Canada.
