Explore Myths and Megaliths With Wild Dartmoor Weekends
22 August 2011: Get under the skin of one of the UK’s most spellbinding national parks this autumn with a new series of ‘Dartmoor Discovered’ weekends at The Prince Hall Hotel (www.princehall.co.uk). Featuring sumptuous native fare, illustrated talks and guided walks with local experts, the weekends will celebrate the rugged beauty, history and lore of Dartmoor.

Dartmoor viewsEach weekend will follow a particular theme, including Myths and Legends, Dartmoor’s Mysterious Megaliths and Wild Dartmoor. Guests will be treated to a delicious dinner on arrival at the Prince Hall on the Friday evening, followed by an interpretive walk on the Saturday with two experienced Dartmoor National Park guides. The weekend will culminate with a shorter walk and picnic on the Sunday.

Covering 368 square miles of breath-taking natural beauty, Dartmoor is host to spectacularly diverse landscapes, from deep wooded valleys and patchwork fields, to the rugged splendour of its tors and windswept moors.

Dartmoor is also home to a wealth of history and legends, including Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s ‘Hound of the Baskervilles’ (Conan Doyle is believed to have stayed at the Prince Hall whilst writing the novel). The moor will be in the spotlight again next year when Stephen Spielberg’s ‘War Horse’ is released in UK cinemas. Speaking about his time spent filming on the moor, Spielberg described the ‘abundance of natural beauty’, saying he had been ‘gifted’ by the stunning scenery.
