| Eat, Drink, Meet – Learn from Australia’s Top Chefs at Fabulous Feast |
| Head to Hamilton Island in Australia to imbibe tricks of the trade from some of the country’s culinary stars at this year’s Great Barrier Feast (www.hamiltonisland.com.au/feast). The three weekend events will be dishing up the ultimate intimate behind the scenes gourmet experience, with the chance to be schooled by the country’s best chefs. |
The prestigious Great Barrier Feast showcases the rising stars of the Australian food scene along with the incredible Whitsundays produce and inimitable flavours of the region. What’s more, with exclusive instruction from some of Australia’s hottest foodie talent, the weekends promise to deliver the inside track on cooking wizardry.
If the fabulous line up of master chefs wasn’t enough, each weekend will be overseen by Jane-Therese Mulry, executive chef at Hamilton Island’s exclusive qualia resort. Renowned for infusing international trends and flavours with local organic produce, Jane-Therese had the accolade of becoming Marco Pierre White’s first female head chef at MPW Canary Wharf during her time spent working in the UK.
Feast One, Peter Gilmore: 24 – 26 June - Kicking off the series on 24 – 26 June is the highly-awarded Peter Gilmore from Sydney’s Quay restaurant. Peter describes his cuisine as “food inspired by nature” and his philosophy is steeped in the exploration of the texture of food and harmony of flavours.
Feast Two, Frank Camorra: 22 – 24 July – The second event takes on a Spanish theme with guest chef Frank Camorra from Melbourne restaurants MoVida, MoVida Next Door, MoVida Aqui and MoVida Terraza.
Feast Three, Dan Hunter: 2 - 4 December - Termed by The Age’s Epicure as ‘Australia's answer to El Bulli’, Dan Hunter from the Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld, Victoria, will be the guest chef at the third weekend event. He works closely with his dedicated garden and kitchen team to produce a unique style of food that blends his understanding of modern technique with an immense respect for nature, produce and seasonality.
Highlights of the gourmet weekends include:
- Welcome dinner at qualia, by the resort’s executive chef, Jane-Therese Mulry
- Showpiece dinner at qualia in which the guest chef will take diners through the preparation of his dishes directly from the kitchen, visible through a live camera link-up
- Two Electrolux master classes - providing an exclusive 1.5 hour cooking instruction and an insider’s guide to the tricks of the trade by the guest chef
