Southern Ocean Lodge, Kangaroo Island, South AustraliaSOUTHERN OCEAN LODGE LAUNCHES INAUGURAL YOGA RETREAT 18th – 20th November. This inaugural weekend of wellness is being held in conjunction with Skye Baird who completed her Yoga Alliance Accreditation in California, training in the latest Hatha Yoga techniques.

It will include a signature itinerary combining yoga sessions and guided island experiences designed to promote a calmer mind, healthier sleeping patterns, release tension, increase flexibility and boost energy. KANGAROO ISLAND OYSTER FARM SHOP – South Australia prides itself on its home-produced food, nowhere more so than at The Oyster Farm Shop in American River on Kangaroo Island.

The processing and packaging facility for Kangaroo Island shellfish and the largest commercial oyster farm on Kangaroo Island, not only showcases local aquaculture and sustainable seafood, but also provides visitors with the opportunity to taste oysters straight from the farm. Only fish species that are considered to have been fished in a sustainable manner are stocked at the Oyster Farm Shop, including Kangaroo Island abalone, King George whiting, marron, smoked barramundi and smoked oysters. BAROSSA BACKPACKERS NOW OPEN – The Barossa may now be experienced on a budget with the opening of Barossa Backpackers in Tanunda. Providing accommodation for up to 76 guests, the brand new backpackers’ haunt is fitted with the latest furnishings plus an up-to-the-minute stainless steel kitchen. Suitable for backpackers and seasonal workers, it also boasts a bike hire facility on site and offers support for those seeking work opportunities in the area. JACOB’S CREEK  VISITOR CENTRE LAUNCHES TAPAS NIGHTS – The Mediterranean meets South Australia on the first Friday of November and December at Jacob’s Creek Visitor Centre, when food and wines will be matched in perfect harmony at a series of tapas nights.

The award-winning restaurant will host a set tasting dinner at AUD$50 per person with Mediterranean foods such as braised pork belly with smoked paprika rub, Manchego stuffed mushroom wrapped with jamon, preserved lemon/herb and chorizo baby squid served with olive flat breads, Spanish omelettes and salad, served with European wine varieties. BAROSSA VISITOR CENTRE REFURBISHMENT - The Barossa Visitor Centre has undergone a refurbishment programme and is now home to a stunning new interpretive artwork display featuring information about the Barossa and its winemaking and grape growing heritage. DARYL HALL AND JOHN OATES TO PERFORM DOWN UNDER – Singing legends, Daryl Hall & John Oates, are to return to Australia to tour with Icehouse at Peter Lehmann Wines in the Barossa Valley on Saturday 11 February 2012.

It will be their first national tour of Australia since 1991. Ticket prices, excluding booking fee, range from AUD$115 for general admission to AUD$230 for platinum seats in the first seven rows.
