Shark-spotting, Sandboarding, Swimming with Tuna - Two NEW Day Tours in South Australia
Wilderness Wanders (www.wildernesswanders.com.au) and Calypso Star Charter (www.sharkcagediving.com.au), two Eyre Peninsula-based adventure operators in South Australia (www.southaustralia.com), have introduced exciting new day tours - the ‘Tuna Swim & Dune Combo’ and ‘Spectator Price’.
sandboarding with Wilderness Wanders, South AustraliaWilderness Wanders’ TUNA SWIM & DUNE COMBO offers:

• swimming with giant tuna, one of the ocean’s fastest fish
• sand duning with the chance to sandboard at Wreck Beach
• an extreme 4WD tour through Lincoln National Park’s massive shifting sand dunes some of which are 80 metres high in parts

This trip costs AUD$170 (approx £95) per person and includes all equipment (wetsuits, mask and fins) for the tuna swim, Sashimi tasting, park entrance fees and sand boarding, plus transport, guide and refreshments.

Calypso Star Charters’ SPECTATOR PRICE offers:

• great white shark spotting without getting in the water
• seeing passing pods of dolphins and islands teeming with birdlife
• fishing whilst waiting for the sharks to appear

cage shark diving wih Calypso Star Charters, South AustraliaCalypso Star Charter is renowned for offering cage diving out of Port Lincoln, one of only three locations in the world that offers cage diving with great white sharks in their natural environment. However, this new tour is ideal for anyone who prefers the idea of seeing a great white shark from the comfort of the custom-built MV Calypso Star, rather than from the shark cage.

Whilst viewing and photo opportunities are excellent from the boat, if the lure of the cage proves too irresistible passengers can upgrade to the dive package onboard.

The “Spectator Price” costs from AUD$395 per person (approx £220).
The year round full day shark diving tours priced from AUD$495 (approx £275).

Tours depart at 7am, returning approximately 12 hours later and include morning tea, fully cooked lunch and afternoon tea. Soft drinks, cappuccino and tea are also available.

Shark activity is currently at an all time high with Calypso Star Charter passengers seeing four and five sharks (up to 4.5-metres long) on each tour and a 100% shark sighting success rate over the past eight months.

In conjunction with local environmental authorities, Calypso Star Charter tags and records shark sightings so that their movements can be tracked around Australia.

Both tours operate out of Port Lincoln.
