| New Online Guide Provides Insider Insights to Kangaroo Island and Beyond |
| 2 November 2011: The South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC) and Responsibletravel.com have created a new multimedia travel guide to Kangaroo Island and South Australia featuring advice and suggestions from locals: www.responsibletravel.com/South-Australia-Travel-Guide/ |
The multimedia guide includes videos and podcasts from locals telling their stories. Topics include a video illustrating why Kangaroo Island is so special whilst another podcast features one of Australia's top landscape photographers.
Featuring personal tips and subjective advice from locals, the guide is packed with authentic insights. Users will find an impressive array of useful and wide ranging information including suggestions on where to stay, local activities and events, places to eat, touring suggestions, not to mention advice on the best beaches to visit. There is also information on the wines found in the Barossa as well as an insight into the daily lives of wild Kangaroo Island seals.
Users will find the guide is easy to navigate, and, over and above plenty of inspiring images to see, videos and podcasts to listen to, there are forums to leave questions which will be answered by locals. Users can also leave their own comments and post their own images.
Commenting on the new guide, Janice Kurrle, the SATC’s UK Marketing Manager, said: “We are very proud of the new guide which is just the latest in a series of new initiatives designed to increase consumer awareness of our outstanding destination.
“As a premier wildlife destination, the protection of South Australia’s flora and fauna is a key focus of the State Government with key strategies in place such as the 'No Species Loss' Nature Conservation Strategy. The SATC also supports and promotes responsible tourism practices which conserve areas of natural beauty and this is why we are sponsoring the “Best for Conservation of Wildlife & Habitats” category at the 2011 Responsible Tourism Awards.”
NOTE TO EDITORS: The awards ceremony will be held at WTM on Wednesday 9th November, the day noted as WTM World Responsible Tourism Day.
