NEW WILDBUSH LUXURY TOUR OF THE FLINDERS RANGES - Wild Bush Luxury and African travel specialists, the Classic Safari Company, have joined forces to create an eight-day itinerary across South Australia’s Outback. The new 'Expedition Flinders Ranges' tour will depart Adelaide on 14th November 2010 and will include the Clare Valley, historic Arkaba Homestead, excursions to impressive natural sites such as Wilpena Pound and Brachina Gorge, and scenic walks along the famous Heysen Trail. Participants will also enjoy VIP tastings of South Australian wines, a visit to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy’s sanctuary at Buckaringa Gorge and a private charter flight over the region to magnificent Lake Eyre.
Accommodation is alfresco on wooden decks in deluxe ‘swags’ which are Australian sleeping bags with luxury mattresses and high quality linens. Each camp features composting toilets, bush showers and meals round an open fire. A good level of fitness is required to participate in the walking safaris described as ‘moderate to challenging’. The cost of AUD$7,900 per person is based on twin share and includes seven nights’ accommodation, meals, transport, guides and a full itinerary, as outlined. CAPTAIN COOK CRUISES SAVINGS ON THE MURRAY RIVER - Captain Cook Cruises is offering 25% off all three, four and seven-night Murray River trips based on travel from 3rd January to 28th February 2011. NEW ‘SOFT’ FLINDERS RANGES GUIDED WALKING EXPERIENCES - Australian Walking Tours (formerly Soulfree Adventures) has introduced a new six-day Flinders Ranges Guided Walking Experiences tour giving participants a taste of Wilpena Pound, Brachina Gorge, Wilkawillina Gorge and Parachilna Gorge. The tour features accommodation in a four-star hotel with gourmet cuisine and a tasting at a world-class winery. EXCLUSIVE KANGAROO BEACH LODGES NOW OPEN - Kangaroo Beach Lodges comprise three new properties in the little visited north-west corner of Kangaroo Island. Designed by acclaimed architect Phil Harris for stylish living, open-air indulgence and barefoot relaxation, the three lodges are set 50 meters above the cove on pastured slopes, offering uninterrupted views, space and privacy.
Each luxurious 240 square meter lodge accommodates up to eight guests in four king-size bedrooms, with three bathrooms and spacious living area with bespoke furniture, digital entertainment, plasma television, plus spacious kitchen fitted to an equally high specification. ADELAIDE TO HOST GOLDEN OLDIES WORLD CRICKET TOURNAMENT – South Australia is to host the Air New Zealand Golden Oldies World Cricket Festival in 2012. With assistance from the South Australian Cricket Association, the Festival is expected to attract hundreds of amateur cricketers aged 40 or over to play matches at 30 cricket grounds in and around Adelaide between 25th November and 1st December 2012. ADELAIDE CONVENTION BUREAU DEFIES GLOBAL DOWNTURN - The Adelaide Convention Bureau is bucking the current economic trend by finishing the 2009/2010 financial year on a high. Not only did it exceed all its targets relating to the number of bed nights secured, it also improved the economic impact that its business events will bring to South Australia. Highlights at the end of the 2009/2010 year include more than 152,000 bed nights secured marking an a 12% increase on last year with an economic impact figure of more than $104m, slashing last year’s figure by 25%. www.adelaideconvention.com.au
