Tasting Australia, Adelaide, April 26th - May 3rd 2012
Tasting Australia (www.tasting-australia.com.au) is the most significant food and wine festival of its kind in the Asia Pacific region, showcasing the very best Australia has to offer in terms of food, wine, beer and the culinary arts. The next event will be held in Adelaide from April 26th - May 3rd 2012.
bank sa feast for the senses, adelaide, south australiaHeld every other year, Tasting Australia attracts food professionals, brewers and winemakers, chefs, restaurateurs and sommeliers, educators and academics, not to mention around 30,000 members of the general public. This eight-day event focuses its time not only in Adelaide but also branches out into South Australia’s regions, each of which boasts its own food and wine highlights.

In 2012, a major theme underlying all events will be providing children, from primary school age through to secondary school, with stimulating activities which will make them consider their eating and cooking habits.

At the last event in 2010 some 160 youngsters had the opportunity to rub bank sa feast for the senses, kids in the kitchen, adelaide, south australiashoulders with their TV chef icons with hands on cooking classes as part of ‘Kids in the Kitchen’. And, whilst events for 2012 are still being finalised, there are plans for the following:

  • Kids cooking classes and workshops about food education
  • Regency Tafe – L Plate cooking sessions
In additionvisitors will have a choice of over 50 events to attend including the Australian Culinary Federation, - “Battle of the Chefs” competition and:

  • antonio carluccio, tasting australia 2010, south australiaMiele Cooking Classes and Masterclasses - Sessions with the world’s culinary experts, to be entertained and informed by eminent cooks and chefs who in the past have included Antonio Carluccio, Antony Worrall Thompson, Rick Stein, Madhur Jaffrey, Sophie Grigson, Paul Rankin and Nick Nairn
  • The Word of Mouth Festival – A celebration of the spoken and written word in food and wine-related matters, including debates and a chance to meet and learn more about some of the people who help shape the way we eat and drink
  • Bank SA Feast for the Senses – Visitors sample a wide range of delectable foods and beverages, take part in cookery demonstrations and enjoy entertainment featuring some of the star guests of Tasting Australia (names to be confirmed)
  • Food symposia
  • Celebrity lunches and dinners
  • Food and wine matching classes
  • Visits to some of South Australia’s premier food and wine regions
Beyond Adelaide, possible activities in the regions, based on past Tasting Australia events, can include any number of highlights such as owner-hosted wine tastings at celebrated cellar doors, culinary masterclasses with renowned local chefs, tours of farmers markets and much more. Featured regions will include The Barossa, Kangaroo Island, The Fleurieu and Eyre Peninsulas.
