NEW HOT AIR BALLOON FLIGHTS OVER THE FLINDERS RANGES
- Visitors to 29,000-acre Rawnsley Park Station will be able to discover the vast remoteness of the Outback courtesy of a new hot air ballooning experience taking off in July.
The new experience, initially only available for three months, will begin an hour before sunrise at the Woolshed Restaurant where a maximum of five passengers will be treated to stunning panoramic sunrise views over the majestic Flinders Ranges and will see an array of wildlife including kangaroos and emus. ART LOVERS’ CRUISE ALONG THE MURRAY – Captain Cook Cruises is offering a new series of three, four and seven-night art trips in August featuring guest artist Captain Tony Smith. SOUTH AUSTRALIA WINS WORLD AQUACULTURE CONGRESS – Following a successful bid by the Adelaide Convention Bureau (ACB), South Australia will host the four-day World Aquaculture Congress in 2014, one of the largest events to be held in the State, with more than 3,000 delegates and 200 exhibitors expected from around the globe and an anticipated injection into the South Australian economy of around AUD$11.5m.
Worldwide, aquaculture is growing by approximately 11% each year and produces around a third of the world’s total food supply. INTERNATIONAL VISITORS BOOST SOUTH AUSTRALIAN ECONOMY – Figures released this month by Tourism Research Australia indicate that South Australia’s appeal as a world-class tourism destination continues to climb, with international visitors spending AUD$659 million in 2009; an increase of 23 per cent on the previous year.
SANTOS TOUR DOWN UNDER CONTINUES TO GROW – Held in January, The 2010 Santos Tour Down Under was the biggest in the event’s history, attracting record crowds of 77,500 and injecting a staggering income of AUD$41.5 million into the South Australian economy, compared to $39 million in 2009.
Premier Mike Rann said: “Every aspect of the race has grown.
