DEVON TOURISM AWARDS

Woodovis Park scoops Silver at Devon Tourism AwardsThe independently-run park stole the limelight last year at the inaugural Devon Tourism Awards when owners John and Dorothy Lewis went home with Gold for the Holiday Park of the Year award. This year they reached new heights for their commitment to the environment, taking Silver in the Sustainable Tourism Award.

Accepting the award at a special ceremony at Exeter’s Sandy Park on 23rd November, John Lewis said: “We didn’t want to rest on our laurels and felt that this year was time to push our green credentials to another level. Having won the holiday park of the year last year we are now so pleased to be able to demonstrate that sustainability does not compromise quality in any way and that the two work hand in hand to create an even better visitor experience.”

HOSEASONS DIAMOND AWARD

This latest accolade comes hot on the heels of Woodovis Park winning the Hoseasons 2011 Diamond Award. The Awards are in recognition of the superb achievements of the lodges and parks within the Hoseasons’ portfolio and showcases those locations that have been selected for their exceptional customer service and outstanding quality.

NOTE TO EDITORS:
Woodovis Park: Situated on the edge of Dartmoor in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a designated World Heritage Site, Woodovis Park is a small park that’s big on preserving its spectacular surroundings. There is a raft of measures in place to ensure holidaymakers enjoy a more sustainable holiday option, from the solar heated swimming pool to the onsite 160 foot borehole. Other measures such as dedicated wildlife corridors, the use of indigenous plants, nesting boxes and feeding stations add up to a site that is a beautiful place to spend time, both for humans and wildlife.

Last year the Park secured Gold in both the David Bellamy Conservation Awards and Green Tourism Business Scheme. Woodovis Park is also the proud recipient of a Dartmoor First Award in recognition of its commitment to sustaining Dartmoor and its special qualities.

The Devon Tourism Awards were first launched in 2010 and received a record number of entries this year. The finalists represent the cream of Devon tourism, selected through a combination of scoring, mystery visits and web searches. Successful businesses in the Devon Awards will be fast tracked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2012, and then possibly on to the National Enjoy England Awards in May.
